We are currently looking to add to our Quality Team within our Foundry and Machine Shop in Billingham, Supporting the Senior Quality Engineer with in our Tube and Static Foundries in you will be required to assist with the following: -
To support the Tube & Static Quality Manager in ensuring the day-to-day activities of the Tube & Static Quality Engineering Dept. are maintained.
To ensure the complete and correct implementation of all quality control requirements within the Tube Foundry inc. the Spectrometer and Mechanical Test Labs, Static Foundry, Tube Machine Shop and Static Inspection area. This will also include support to FVC & FVD as required.
Ensure engineering standards is maintained on all applicable shop floors.
Ensure a system of continuous improvements is implemented and maintained.
Key Responsibilities include but now limited to:
To conduct a contract review and produce Quality Plans for Tube / Statics / Centri‐Spun manufacturing in a timely manner. To act on any revisions required as directed by the Contracts Engineer and / or by the Technical Dept.
To produce concise Test Notes for each department using information from the Quality Plans
Monitoring the process for release of Tube and Static cast items to Fabrication ensuring that all item traceability / markings is conforming to specification and has been released accordingly.
Monitoring the process for completion of all metallurgical test records for Tube and Static cast material to ensure a timely submittal for the final Document Packs inc. the Tube Machine Shop.
Ensure that the quality system (work instructions) and contract requirements (Quality Plans) are communicated effectively within the Tube Foundry inc. the Spectrometer and Mechanical Test Labs, Static Foundry, Static Inspection & Tube Machine Shop and are understood.
Working as part of a team with the applicable Foundry / BU, review of work instructions and revise and implement changes where identified.
Working as part of a team with the applicable BU and HR to monitor, review, revise and implement specific training where identified.
Prepare a weekly quality dashboard report for the Tubes Foundry first stage inspection detailing crop, causes of cropped tubes, full tube scrap, defect type, material grade and applicable project number.
In conjunction with the Technical Dept. plan and hold a bi-weekly technical / quality meeting for the Tube Foundry to review the technical and quality manufacturing data and new / ongoing quality issues with clear actions, ownership and follow up to conclusion.
Assess and action the NCRs raised onto the Tube Foundry to determine reason around issues discovered.
Prepare a weekly Quality dashboard report for the Tube Machine shop including 2nd stage inspection detailing crop, causes of cropped tubes, defect type, material grade and applicable project number. The Quality dashboard will also include reason for lost preps and why, and include all relevant pertinent NCRs raised on the Tube Machine Shop.
Review of Tube manufacturing and inspection process controls (including FVC parts for petrochemical) with recommendations / implementation of improvements.
Prepare a weekly quality dashboard report for the Static Foundry detailing causes of scrap, total scrap castings and number of castings welded. The dashboard will also include all NCR data and investigations for the NCRs raised.
Plan and hold a bi-weekly quality meeting for the Static Foundry to review the quality manufacturing data and new / ongoing quality issues with clear actions, ownership and follow up to conclusion.
Prepare weekly weld repair report for Statics including evaluation of all repairs with categorisation of cause of repair to identify process deficiencies.
Review of Static casting manufacturing and inspection process controls (including FVC parts for petrochemical) with recommendations / implementation of improvements.
Ideally you will have:
- Foundry experience. Understanding / experience in centrifugal and sand-casting methods.
- Quality / NDE inspection experience.
- Working Knowledge of ASTM & EN / ISO Standards for castings, ASME Codes and PED advantageous.
